raccoon dogs
Masked Japanese mammals
Raccoon dogs are canids native to East Asia, resembling raccoons in their facial markings and stocky build but unrelated to them.
They're the only canids that hibernate.
In fashion, raccoon dog fur is sometimes misleadingly labeled as "faux fur" or other names: The coat turned out to be raccoon dog, not synthetic.
