Queer bashing is verbal abuse or physical violence directed at people perceived to be gay, lesbian, or otherwise not heterosexual.
The term emerged alongside the reclamation of *queer* as an identity label: Two men were hospitalized after a queer bashing outside the club.
The phrase can describe a single incident or a pattern of targeted harassment.
