primary colours
Red, yellow, blue
Primary colours are colours that cannot be created by mixing other colours together, but which combine to produce all other colours.
In traditional colour theory—painting, printing—the primaries are red, yellow, and blue.
In light (additive colour), they are red, green, and blue.
Children learn to mix primary colours in art class.
The spelling "colours" is British; Americans write "colors."
