pressurising

Urging with insistence

Pressurising is the British spelling of pressurizing, the present participle of pressurise.

To pressurise something is to raise or maintain pressure within it, as with an aircraft cabin or a sealed container.

The word also means to apply psychological pressure to someone, attempting to coerce or persuade them: They kept pressurising him to sign the contract.

In both senses, the action involves force—physical or figurative—applied to achieve a particular result.
