press F
Internet mourning gesture
Press F is an expression of respect, sympathy, or mourning, often used ironically or humorously online.
It originated from a 2014 video game that prompted players to "press F to pay respects" at a funeral scene—a moment widely mocked for reducing solemn emotion to a button press.
The phrase now appears when something dies, fails, or ends badly: Press F for my phone, I dropped it in the toilet.
