present progressive

Action happening now

The present progressive is a verb form combining "am," "is," or "are" with a present participle to indicate ongoing action: I am writing, She is sleeping, They are waiting.

It describes what's happening right now or around the current time, in contrast to the simple present, which often describes habitual action.
