present perfect

Have plus participle

The present perfect is a verb tense combining "have" or "has" with a past participle: I have eaten, She has gone.

It connects past actions to the present—describing completed actions with current relevance, experiences up to now, or states that began in the past and continue: I've lived here for ten years.

Distinguished from the simple past, which places events firmly in completed time.
