prerecorded tape
Ready-made sound medium
A prerecorded tape is magnetic tape—audio cassette, VHS, or reel-to-reel—that comes with content already on it, as opposed to blank tape you record yourself.
The term was common when people bought music albums or movies on tape: I found a box of prerecorded tapes at the yard sale.
Now largely historical, as tape formats have been replaced by digital media.
