preconsciousness
Below surface thoughts
Preconsciousness refers to mental contents not currently in awareness but readily accessible to it—memories, thoughts, or knowledge you're not thinking about now but could summon easily.
In psychoanalytic theory, the preconscious sits between the conscious mind and the unconscious, holding material that isn't repressed.
The name was on the edge of my preconsciousness, almost but not quite retrievable.
