preceptorship
Supervised clinical learning
A preceptorship is a period of practical training under the guidance of an experienced practitioner, especially in nursing and medicine.
Unlike classroom instruction, preceptorships pair learners one-on-one with working professionals who model clinical skills and decision-making: She completed a twelve-week preceptorship in the emergency department.
The arrangement bridges academic preparation and independent practice.
