pre-wash
Soak before cleaning
Pre-wash is a preliminary cleaning cycle or treatment before the main wash.
In laundry, a pre-wash loosens heavy soil before the full cycle: Use the pre-wash setting for muddy sports uniforms.
Pre-wash also refers to products applied before washing: Spray pre-wash on the stain and let it sit.
In car washes, a pre-wash removes loose dirt before scrubbing.
