postnuptial agreement
After-wedding legal contract
A postnuptial agreement is a legal contract between spouses made after marriage, specifying how assets and debts will be divided if the marriage ends.
Unlike a prenuptial agreement, which is signed before the wedding, a postnup addresses circumstances that arise during the marriage: They signed a postnuptial agreement after his business took off.
Often shortened to postnup.
