counterfeit stamps
Fraudulent postal markers
Counterfeit stamps are forged postage stamps made to defraud postal services, or fake collector stamps made to deceive philatelists.
The first type cheats the postal system out of revenue; the second cheats collectors out of money for worthless imitations of rare stamps.
The dealer was arrested for selling counterfeit stamps to unsuspecting collectors.
