polyfill

Browser feature backport

A polyfill is code that provides functionality a browser or environment doesn't natively support, making newer features work in older systems.

The term comes from Polyfilla, a British brand of spackling paste—the code fills gaps in implementation.

We added a polyfill for older browsers that don't support the fetch API.

Polyfills are common in web development to ensure backward compatibility.
