poboy

Southern fried sandwich

A poboy is a Louisiana submarine sandwich, typically featuring fried seafood like shrimp or oysters, or roast beef with gravy, served on crusty French bread.

The name supposedly comes from New Orleans streetcar strikers in 1929 who received free sandwiches—"here comes another poor boy." Also spelled po'boy or po-boy.

I'll have a shrimp poboy dressed.
