pinwheels
Spinning paper toys
Pinwheels are small wheels with vanes that spin when blown or caught by wind—the kind children hold up while running.
The shape extends to fireworks that spin while emitting sparks, and to food arranged in a spiral: spinach pinwheels, ham and cheese pinwheels.
To pinwheel is to spin or rotate: Her arms pinwheeled as she lost her balance.
