piano sonatas
Solo keyboard works
Piano sonatas are musical compositions written for solo piano, typically in three or four movements with contrasting tempos and characters.
The form reached its height in the Classical and Romantic periods through composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin.
Beethoven's thirty-two piano sonatas are considered cornerstones of the repertoire: She's learning the Moonlight Sonata.
