rondo
Theme-and-return structure
A rondo is a musical form in which a main theme alternates with contrasting sections, returning like a refrain: ABACA or ABACABA.
The structure creates unity through repetition while allowing variety in the episodes between.
Rondos often serve as final movements in sonatas and concertos, typically lively in character: The symphony concludes with a spirited rondo.
