first movement
Sonata's initial part
The first movement is the opening section of a multi-movement musical work such as a symphony, sonata, or concerto.
In classical tradition, first movements are typically fast-paced and follow sonata form—presenting themes, developing them, then recapitulating.
The first movement of Beethoven's Fifth is probably the most recognized four notes in Western music.
