piano part
Felt-covered striking mechanism
A piano part is the music written specifically for piano in a larger composition, distinct from parts for other instruments or voices.
In ensemble works, the piano part may accompany singers or instrumentalists, or it may be integral to the texture: The piano part in that sonata is fiendishly difficult.
Also refers to the printed or digital sheet music containing just the piano portion.
