piano hinge
Full-length door joint
A piano hinge is a long, narrow hinge that runs the full length of whatever it joins, providing continuous support along the entire edge.
Named for its use on piano lids, it appears on toolboxes, storage benches, and folding tables where strength and even weight distribution matter: The lid was attached with a piano hinge so it wouldn't sag.
