physiocrat

Agricultural wealth advocate

A physiocrat is an adherent of physiocracy, an 18th-century French economic theory holding that land and agriculture are the sole sources of wealth and that government should not interfere with natural economic laws.

The physiocrats opposed mercantilism and influenced later free-market thinking: The physiocrats believed manufacturing merely transformed what agriculture produced.
