pharaoh mask

Golden death covering

A pharaoh mask is a funerary mask placed over the face of an ancient Egyptian ruler's mummy, designed to preserve and protect the deceased's identity for the afterlife.

The most famous example is King Tutankhamun's gold death mask.

The term extends to replicas and costume versions: The kids made pharaoh masks for their Egypt project.
