perusal
Thorough text examination
Perusal is the act of reading or examining something, typically with care: a perusal of the contract revealed several problems.
Despite its suggestion of thoroughness, perusal often appears in casual contexts where it simply means looking over: Thanks for your perusal of my resume.
The verb is peruse.
