perspective distortion
Focal length effect
Perspective distortion is the apparent warping of objects caused by the angle or distance from which they're viewed or photographed.
In photography, wide-angle lenses exaggerate nearby objects while shrinking distant ones; telephoto lenses compress depth, making objects appear closer together than they are.
The real estate photos used wide angles that made the rooms look huge—classic perspective distortion.
The term also applies to cognitive bias: seeing situations differently based on where you stand.
