partial credit
Some earned credit
Partial credit is recognition for work that is partly correct or incomplete.
In education, it's the practice of awarding some points even when a student's answer isn't fully right: I got partial credit for showing my work.
The concept extends beyond academics—any situation where effort or progress is acknowledged despite falling short of complete success: You don't get partial credit for almost finishing the project.
