Brief-style foundation garment
A panty girdle is a women's undergarment combining the shaping function of a girdle with the coverage of panties.
Popular from the 1950s through 1970s, it compressed the waist, hips, and thighs while eliminating the need for separate underwear.
The garment has largely been replaced by control-top pantyhose and modern shapewear: My grandmother still wears a panty girdle under her dresses.
