pack cementation
Powder-based surface treatment
Pack cementation is a heat treatment process for coating metal surfaces, where the workpiece is packed in a powder mixture containing the coating element, then heated to high temperatures so atoms diffuse into the surface.
The technique creates protective layers resistant to corrosion, oxidation, or wear: Pack cementation with aluminum powder produces aluminide coatings on turbine blades.
