overshift

Too many transitions

Overshift describes working more shifts than scheduled or typical, or staying beyond the end of a scheduled shift: The nurses have been overshifting all month due to staff shortages.

In driving, to overshift is to shift gears at too high an RPM or skip gears inappropriately.

In typography and keyboards, overshifting means holding the shift key too long, producing unwanted capitals.
