overhand serve
Downward striking delivery
An overhand serve is a method of putting a ball into play—especially in volleyball and tennis—by striking it with the arm swinging downward from above the shoulder.
It generates more power and speed than an underhand serve: She developed a devastating overhand serve that aced opponents regularly.
The technique requires tossing the ball upward and timing the contact at the highest reachable point.
