brushback pitch
Inside fastball threat
A brushback pitch in baseball is a pitch thrown close to the batter's body, forcing them to step back from the plate.
Pitchers use it to intimidate batters or reclaim the inside of the strike zone: After the home run, the pitcher threw a brushback at the next batter.
The tactic hovers between strategy and aggression—too close and it becomes a beanball.
