orach
Goosefoot family herb
Orach is a plant of the goosefoot family, cultivated since ancient times as a leafy vegetable similar to spinach.
Also called mountain spinach, it tolerates salty and alkaline soils where other greens struggle.
The leaves may be green, red, or purple depending on variety.
Also spelled orache.
