opera scores
Staged singing notation
Opera scores are the written musical notation for operas, containing all vocal parts, orchestral arrangements, and stage directions.
A full score shows every instrument and voice on separate staves; a vocal score reduces the orchestra to piano accompaniment for rehearsal purposes.
The library's collection includes rare nineteenth-century opera scores.
Scores serve conductors, singers, and scholars studying how composers realized their dramatic visions.
