onsides
Short kick strategy
Onsides describes a player or play that complies with rules about positioning—the opposite of offside.
In American football, an onside kick is a short kickoff designed to be recovered by the kicking team: They attempted an onside kick down by seven with two minutes left.
The term appears in various sports where positioning rules govern fair play.
