oil train
Crude cargo rail
An oil train is a freight train transporting crude oil or petroleum products, typically consisting of tank cars linked together in long formations.
The term gained currency after several high-profile derailments and explosions, particularly in the 2010s: The oil train derailed near the town center.
Also called a crude-by-rail train or unit train.
