object balls
Striped and solid spheres
In cue sports like pool and snooker, the object balls are the balls a player aims to pocket, as distinguished from the cue ball, which is struck directly with the cue stick.
The cue ball is the instrument; the object balls are the targets: She lined up the shot, sending the cue ball into the object ball at a sharp angle.
