noncontrolling
Lacking decisive power
Noncontrolling describes a stake or interest that doesn't give its holder power over decisions.
In business and finance, a noncontrolling interest is an ownership share insufficient to direct a company's operations—typically less than 50 percent: The firm acquired a noncontrolling interest in the startup.
In personal contexts, noncontrolling describes someone who doesn't dominate or manipulate others: a noncontrolling partner.
