nodulation
Growing small knobs
Nodulation is the formation of nodules—small rounded lumps or swellings.
The term appears most often in biology, especially for the process by which nitrogen-fixing bacteria form nodules on plant roots: Legumes depend on root nodulation for nitrogen uptake.
In medicine, nodulation describes the development of abnormal tissue masses.
