newsdesk
Where stories break
A newsdesk is the department or physical area in a news organization where stories are received, assigned, and coordinated.
Editors at the newsdesk decide which stories to pursue and dispatch reporters accordingly.
By extension, newsdesk refers to the staff working there: I called the newsdesk to pitch my story.
