news service
Content distribution syndicate
A news service is an organization that gathers and distributes news to subscribing outlets—newspapers, broadcasters, websites.
The Associated Press and Reuters are major news services, supplying stories that member publications run under their own mastheads.
Also called a wire service, from the days when stories traveled by telegraph wire.
