News segments are individual portions of a television or radio news broadcast, each covering a distinct story or topic.
A typical news program consists of multiple segments separated by commercial breaks or transitions: The weather segment comes after sports.
The term also applies to pre-produced packages that reporters file: She's working on a segment about local food banks.
