near rhyme
Almost matching sounds
Near rhyme is a partial correspondence of sound between words—close enough to echo, but not a perfect match.
Words like *love* and *move*, or *eyes* and *light*, share some sounds but don't fully rhyme.
Also called slant rhyme, half rhyme, or off rhyme.
Poets use near rhyme for subtler effects than full rhyme allows, or when exact rhymes would feel forced: Emily Dickinson favored near rhyme throughout her work.
