mouse-deer

Smallest hoofed mammal

A mouse-deer is a small hoofed mammal native to Southeast Asian and African forests, among the smallest ungulates in the world.

Despite the name, mouse-deer are neither mice nor deer but belong to their own family.

Also called chevrotain.

A mouse-deer can weigh as little as two pounds.
