mountain infantry
High-altitude ground troops
Mountain infantry are soldiers specially trained and equipped to fight in mountainous terrain.
Unlike standard infantry units, they learn techniques for operating at high altitudes, navigating steep slopes, and surviving harsh alpine conditions.
The mountain infantry secured the pass before the main force could advance.
These units typically carry specialized gear for climbing and cold weather, and historically have played crucial roles in conflicts involving rugged, elevated battlegrounds.
