molests

Abuses or pesters

Molest means to disturb, bother, or interfere with.

In older and formal usage, it simply meant to annoy or pester: Do not molest the wildlife.

But the dominant modern meaning is to subject someone, especially a child, to unwanted sexual contact.

This sense now so overshadows the innocent one that using molest for mere annoyance risks misunderstanding.
