mob scenes
Frenzied group gatherings
Mob scenes are chaotic situations involving large, unruly crowds—originally a film and theater term for sequences requiring many extras in frenzied action: The director dreaded shooting mob scenes.
The phrase extends to any overwhelming gathering: The store opening was a mob scene.
A mob scene suggests disorder, pushing, shouting, and loss of individual control within the mass.
