minority communities
Smaller demographic populations
Minority communities are groups of people who share a common identity—often based on race, ethnicity, religion, or national origin—and who are numerically smaller or hold less social power than the dominant population in a given society.
The term emphasizes collective identity and shared experience rather than mere numbers; in some contexts, a group may be called a minority community even when it constitutes a demographic majority but lacks political or economic power.
The new policy aims to improve healthcare access in minority communities.
