mining village
Ore workers' town
A mining village is a small settlement built around or near a mine, typically housing workers and their families.
These communities developed wherever mineral extraction occurred—coal, copper, gold—and often depended entirely on the mine's fortunes.
When the mine closed, the village frequently declined or was abandoned: The old mining village is now a ghost town.
