mindful parenting
Aware, present caregiving
Mindful parenting is an approach to raising children that emphasizes present-moment awareness, emotional regulation, and nonjudgmental attention to both parent and child.
Rather than reacting automatically to behavior, the mindful parent pauses, observes, and responds with intention: Instead of yelling, she took a breath and asked what was wrong.
The term emerged from the broader mindfulness movement and appears frequently in parenting books and therapy contexts.
