militarisation
Weaponizing a nation
Militarisation is the process of equipping with military resources or giving a military character to something previously civilian.
A government may militarise its police force, a border region, or its economy.
The word often carries negative connotations, suggesting excessive or inappropriate military influence: the militarisation of outer space, the creeping militarisation of everyday life.
Also spelled militarization.
